Watch Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer Shred on “Blackbird” at Relix Studios

Relix has been inviting musicians from the jam band scene over the last few weeks to their studio for intimate, stripped down performances. Yesterday, Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer and his band went live on YouTube from the Relix studios and shared three tunes.

After an original, Brandon introduced the next cover as possibly his favorite song of all time—The Beatles’ “Blackbird.” After the first verse, TAZ launched into a funky “Fire on the Mountain” jam before returning to the final verse of “Blackbird.”

Thanks to Relix for the great stream.

Watch Brandon “Taz” Niederauer’s “Blackbird > Fire on the Mountain” at Summer Camp

The annual Summer Camp Music Festival kicked off on Thursday evening in Chillicothe, IL. This year’s headliners include a ton of sets from Umphrey’s McGee, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and many more.

On Friday, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer got things started at the Moonshine Stage at noon. Tucked into his set was an adventurous segue of the Beatles’ “Blackbird” into the Grateful Dead’s “Fire on the Mountain.”

Check out the great footage from Nunu Zomot of Mihali from Twiddle sitting in for a great take of “Rock and Roll” as well.

Watch David Crosby and Joan Baez Perform an Exceptional Cover of “Blackbird”

Joan Baez, turned 75 earlier this year, but she doesn’t look a day past 60. David Crosby on the other hand…

Joan and a host of friends hosted a night of beautiful music at the Beacon Theater to celebrate Joan Baez’s 75th birthday. Among the amazing performances was the delicate, graceful rendition of “Blackbird” by David Crosby and Joan Baez.

The stripped down arrangement let’s Crosby and Baez’s harmonies shine. What a beautiful song performed by two legendary singer-songwriters.
