Jerry Garcia would have been 74 yesterday. Warren Haynes, has been celebrating Jerry’s Garcia for a couple of summers now with his Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration shows. Last night, Warren brought the symphonic celebration to the legendary Red Rocks.
Last night was also special for another reason. Warren Haynes played Tiger, Jerry Garcia’s guitar, for the first time in public since Jerry’s last performance with the Grateful Dead in 1995.
After a couple of sets of the symphonic celebration, Warren was joined by special guest and Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals for a third set of Jerry Garcia music.
Watch this great footage from YouTube user Jeremiah Rogers of select tunes from that third set including:
Loser
That’s What Love will Make You Do
Don’t Let Go
Road Runner
Warren is no stranger to playing Dead tunes as he toured with The Dead in the early 2000s. Regardless of his past accomplishments, this must have been one of the highlights of Warren’s career.
