The Grateful Dead have returned to YouTube with another installment of all the Years Live on YouTube. The latest footage comes from summer tour 1990 in Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, outside of Buffalo.
Halfway through the first set, the Dead launched into “Mama Tried > Mexicali Blues.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes about the performance, “Grateful Dead first sets in the 1980s and 1990s had certain slots for blues songs, Dylan songs, and cowboy songs, and although not all of these slots were filled at every show, most shows featured some variation on these slotted songs. The cowboy medley featured various configurations of Me and My Uncle, Big River, Mama Tried, Cumberland Blues, El Paso, Mexicali Blues, and this great Buffalo show from Brent’s final tour featured an exceptional combination in the cowboy slot.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
