Dead and Company finished up their two night run at Fenway Park on Saturday. The Boston ballpark was home to another historic performance the following night as Paul McCartney delivered a massive 39-song show to the good people of Boston.
As if Boston weren’t blessed by these two rock giants performing in their hallowed ballpark on the same weekend, those in attendance were treated to a once in a lifetime collaboration between Bob Weir and Paul McCartney. Although the two rock icons have admired each-others music, the two have never shared a stage together over the last half-century.
This also marks the first time that a member of The Beatles has shared the stage with a member of the Grateful Dead. What a long strange trip it’s been.
Bobby helped Paul out on the Wings tune “Hi Hi Hi” and the Beatles’ rock monster “Helter Skelter.” New England Patriot and fan-favorite Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski came out for a cringe-worthy air guitar sit-in on “Helter Skelter” but it was all in good fun, right?
Here is partial fan-footage of “Hi Hi Hi”
Take me out to the ballgame, indeed.
