While John Mayer’s emergency appendectomy has cut the 2017 Dead and Company fall tour short (or at least delayed it), the music never stopped in New Orleans. While fans may not have gotten to enjoy some NOLA Dead & Co, there was plenty of music happening around town.
One of the hundreds of music venues in New Orleans, the Howlin’ Wolf, named after the legendary blues guitarist, hosted a super jam of sorts on Tuesday evening. The group included the Meters’ bassist George Porter Jr., guitar slingers Eric Krasno and Papa Mali and Ivan Neville on keys.
The super group trotted out plenty of Dead tunes including “Eyes of the World” and “Scarlet Begonias.”
Thanks to btragal for the footage!
For those of you concerned, apparently Mayer is doing fine after surgery and has “still got it.”
