One of my favorite venues to catch a show at in NOLA is the Maple Leaf. The bar is off the beaten path, doesn’t fit more than a couple of hundred people, and you can literally reach out and touch the musicians on stage.
During Jazz Fest, drummer Johnny Vidacovich holds down the Maple Leaf Bar with different arrangements of the amazing musicians who make the annual pilgrimage to New Orleans in the spring.
On May 2nd, Vidacovich was joined by Sonny Landreth and David Ranson. Teenage guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niderauer was invited to jam on the stage half way through the first set and for the entire second set.
