Watch Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Killer Second Show at the Cap – 2/21/2018 Full Show Video

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s tour stopped in Port Chester, NY for a two-night stand at the Capitol Theatre. Both shows were professionally streamed in HD for free courtesy of Relix.

TTB brought the goods on night two with an absolutely, energy-packed set including their classics like “Don’t Know What it Means” and “Bound for Glory” and plenty of familiar covers including Elmore James’ “The Sky is Crying,” the Four Tops’ “Loving You is Sweeter Than Ever,” and an encore of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Sing a Simple Song / I Want to Take You Higher.”

Listen to Duane Betts Join Gov’t Mule for a Wild “Statesboro Blues” in Florida

Gov’t Mule, fresh off their Jamaica Island Exodus getaway is hitting the early festival circuit. While the northern U.S. is still in the throws of winter, sunny Florida has already hosted two major festivals this month. A couple of weekends ago Florida was treated to the annual Sunshine Music Festival and this past weekend, the Florida Jazz and Blues Jam hit Boca Raton.

Among the headliners were Gov’t Mule and The Devon Allman Project featuring Duane Betts. Duane Betts made quite a name for himself in 2017 jamming with Mule, Blackberry Smoke, and Devon Allman among other acts.

At the end of a rip-roaring Mule set, Devon Allman, Duane Betts and Pete Levin joined Mule for a blowout “Statesboro Blues.” After everybody had a turn soloing, Warren thanked the crowd and said they were going to end it how they do in New Orleans with everyone playing at the same time. What ensued was two minutes of jamming bliss.

Listen to Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Emotional Atlanta Show with Tributes to Col. Bruce Hampton & More – 7/15/2017 Full Show AUD

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Wheel of Soul tour steamrolled into Atlanta last Saturday night. The tour is about halfway down and has been spectacular thus far. While not technically their home, the Atlanta show was something of a homecoming for Derek Trucks and his band. It marked their first time that he and his bandmates had played the Fox Theater since his good friend Col. Bruce Hampton passed away on stage at his 70th birthday show.

Col. Bruce was honored with the encore tune “Cry Me a River” right after TTB dedicated the first encore tune, “Song for You” to their bandmate Kofi Burbridge who is recovering from a massive heart attack earlier this spring. While not formally mentioned by the band, Gregg Allman was also on everyone’s mind during the “Little Martha” intro to “Midnight in Harlem” and the “Whipping Post” final chorus and jam out of “The Storm.”

As with other shows this tour, Wheels of Soul openers The Wood Brothers and Hot Tuna sat in on some songs during Tedeschi Truck Band’s set. Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen (guitar), Jack Cassidy (bass), and Justin Guip (drums) joined for for “The Sky Is Crying” and Oliver Wood (guitar, vocals), Chris Wood (bass), Jano Rix (keyboards), and Tinsley Ellis (guitar) came on stage for “Have No Shame” and “Sweet Virginia.”

Listen to Tedeschi Trucks Band Finish D.C. Run with Allman Brothers and George Harrison Covers – 2/25/2017 Full Show AUD

Tedeschi Trucks Band has mastered the run. Their run at the Beacon last fall was approaching legendary status and received the Jam Buzzer for best run of the year. Last night, Tedeschi Trucks Band put the finishing touches on another incredible run, this time at the Warner Theatre in D.C.

Derek, Susan and the gang covered Derek and the Dominoes, Leonard Cohen and the Allman Brothers among others last night. The bust-out of the evening was a tribute to the late Beatles guitarist, George Harrison on what would have been his 74th birthday. TTB covered the George Harrison penned Beatles tune, “Something” in the second set.

To close out the run, TTB laid down an epic 18-minute “I Want More > Soul Sacrifice” with a “Les Brers” tease tucked in for good measure.

Listen to Gary Clark Jr. Bathe Carnegie Hall in Blues – 12/8/2016 Full Show AUD

Gary Clark Jr. took a break from his band for a few intimate solo gigs this month. These gigs were an opportunity for the bluesman to pay tribute to some of his heroes and show off his ability to captivate crowds with nothing more than a guitar and his voice.

Gary can now count Carnegie Hall among the venues he has played. The storied hall is usually home to classical concerts, but occasionally a rock or bluesman will play in this sacred NYC venue.

Listening to a concert in person at Carnegie, you’ll notice how amazing the sound is. Unfortunately this recording is a bit soft, most likely because Carnegie Hall has a strict and enforced policy about taping shows. The recording doesn’t quiet capture the experience, but is excellent given the circumstances. Make sure to turn your volume WAY up and enjoy! Thanks to petercul for the recording.
