Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band performed a one-night, special engagement at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheater last night. Lesh shared the bill with Leftover Salmon.
For the first song of the set Vince Herman, Drew Emmett, Andy Thorn, and Erik Deutsch from Leftover Salmon came out to help get the party started with a hoe-down version of “Cumberland Blues.”
Phil and his Family Band kept the party going with lengthy jams on classics like “Viola Lee Blues,” “Mountains of the Moon,” “Jack Straw,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Terrapin Station,” “Morning Dew,” and “New Speedway Boogie,” all of which clocked in at 10 or more minutes.
For the encore, Mahali Savoulidis of Twiddle (Twiddle had performed Red Rocks the night before) came out for the first two tunes including “Fire on the Mountian,” and “Music Never Stopped.”
