Denver is quickly becoming the NYE destination of the west. While it’s tough to hold a candle to NYC’s New Year’s Eve line-up (see Phish and Gov’t Mule, among others), Denver assembled quite the NYE line-up itself. In addition to My Morning Jacket’s killer “Purple Rain” on 12/30 and Anders Osborne’s monster “Cortez the Killer” on 12/31, North Mississippi Allstars brought some southern blues to Denver on NYE.

NMA set up for a two-night run at Ophelia’s and delivered an epic 30+ song show to help welcome 2018. The concert included mostly originals spanning their 22 year history, with a few covers thrown in for good measure. The cover collection included the Grateful Dead favorites “Deep Ellum Blues,” “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad” and “We Bid You Goodnight.” NMA also tackled “Little Red Rooster” by The Rolling Stones and one of Luther Dickinson’s specialties, the Allman Brothers Band’s “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.”
