Barefoot, jam band journeyman Keller Williams teamed up with Larry and Jenny Keel in Vermont for a whimsical and lively set a couple of weeks ago. The trio assembled at the first of three Winterwondergrasses. Winterwondergrass is one part bluegrass festival, one part ski vacation, one part micro-brew festival. Sign me up!
Keller and Keels and Railroad Earth headlined the WinterWondergrass a couple of weekends ago in Stratton, Vermont. The next two WinterWondergrass destinations include Colorado and California next year.
Keller Williams describes Keller and the Keels as ‘Appalachian Psychedelic Bluegrass.’ Keller goes in further detail about what makes Keller and Keels so special:
“Award winning flat picker Larry Keel and his rock solid, in the pocket bass playing wife, Jenny Keel, make up two thirds of this super fun trio I started in 2004. With two albums recorded together the handful of gigs we play a year turn into acoustic picking parties. We vowed from the beginning that we wouldn’t do it often so that when we did, it would be special and it is.”Among originals and a very eclectic variety of covers, Keller and the Keels dusted off The Doors’ classic “Roadhouse Blues.” Thanks to Keith Litzenberger for the recording and photo!
