David Crosby, founding member of Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young), embarked on a US tour earlier this spring. The 22-date tour started on the west coast and end at the iconic Capitol Theater in December.
At the end of the show, Crosby played the legendary Joni Mitchell tune “Woodstock” that was recorded by CSNY in 1970, the same year it was written.
Before the show ended, Crosby said he had one more for Castro Theater and asked for the crowd to help him out. The chords of “Ohio” rang out to the delight of the fans. The protest tune depicts the horrific shooting that happened at Kent State University on May 4, 1970. Crosby and his band will return to The Kent Stage in Kent, OH later this month.
While “Ohio” protested what was happening in America nearly 50 years ago, unfortunately it is still very relevant today.
